Poetry and the New Year

"Tam O'Shanter" is a poem about a man who would regularly go out and get drunk, much to the anger and frustration of his wife. On one such evening, Tam is going home from the pub, riding his horse Maggie, and he takes the road home that goes by a SUPER haunted church. On this stormy night, all manner of demons, monsters, witches and the devil himself are partying in the cemetery and Tam stops to watch. Like an idiot.
While the hags are dancing Tam sees a really good looking young witch among them and forgets himself and shouts "Weel done, Cutty-sark!" (well done short skirt) and the party full stops and all the evil creatures start chasing after Tam and Maggie. Tam steers Maggie to the bridge, knowing that the demons can't cross clean running water, and the two make it, but just barely as one of the hags manages to pull off poor Maggies tail.

"Now, who this tale of truth shall read,
Each man, and mother’s son, take heed:
Whenever to drink you are inclined,
Or short skirts run in your mind,
Think! you may buy joys over dear:
Remember Tam o’ Shanter’s mare."

Present Wrapping Problems

The MAIN problem is that I usually leave wrapping the presents until Christmas Eve, so I gotta just work with what I have. Last year I started wrapping earlier, but I was determined to not go out and buy anything else.

Secret Santa Speedy Delivery

We begin the month of December with some Christmas themed stories. Here we have the continued saga of when my Mom did Secret Santa Christmas Baking for friends and family who may have needed some extra cheer. In this instance she brought my sisters with her to assist.
ALWAYS be careful of the icy patch.

A Parallel of Puppies: Snow Dogs

Olie would drag her face through the snow on walks. She'd push with her back legs and walk across someones lawn like this. Sometimes all you'd see is her butt and tail sticking out of a snow drift.
Akela purposefully looks for clumps of snow that have been packed tightly, so that they form a solid block. Not too solid that they are a ice cube, but not too soft that they fall apart when he picks them up and chomps on them.

9-Year-Old-Me is So Ashamed

I"m still really happy about the stuff I got. 9-Year-Old-Me would've gone for just candy. Or that one time I bought a movie with Birthday Money.

A Haunted Tale Part 01

In preparation for Halloween, I contacted my family members to create a Halloween story. Just like I say at the beginning, I started the tale (and ended it) and everyone adds a short part. This is more or less how it went.

Fashion Trends...

Now I just wear what makes me happy. Except for dresses and skirts. I have some I quite like, but I still don't like wearing them.

A Surprise Guest Comic or Two!!

I got two lovely surprise Comics sent to me from Kim Belding and Chris Gobbett of the Root Beer Party!
Some of you may already know that a while back I had a problem with my inner ear, affecting my balance and vision. I had recovered from it a while ago, but lately the same symptoms started reoccurring so as a precaution I had sent out a notice on my social media that there likely wouldn't be an update on the 16th (today.) Luckily I have some incredibly awesome friends who took it upon themselves to send me a couple of Guest Comics to post! Yet again they save the day!
Thank you so much guys!

A Normal Sign of Fall

When the weather starts to change, my mom would take the tomatoes that hadn't ripened yet from the garden, and put them in a box downstairs in the laundry room to let them ripen. When there wasn't enough room, some of the tomatoes would be put in a drawer. It was a pretty normal thing in our house.

Then & Now: Summer

Those days of "nothing" are usually spent doing projects that have been put on the wayside, or cleaning or the likes. Summer can get pretty busy!

No Storms Please

I do not enjoy big storms. The wind is what frightens me. I've been through a few bad storms that have had a lasting effect on me (though I don't know that anyone else in my family is particularly afraid of storms.) Lately we've been having a lot of really bad storms, the kinds that come with warnings to take cover, and the result is that I will wake up in a rush at 3 or 4 am to quickly check the radar and weather alerts. Or I won't let myself fall asleep because I'm listening for oncoming thunder. Not intentionally mind you, just in that stupid space between dreaming and awake.

Somebody's Excited

Akela loves being in the car, but doesn't like it when the car is moving, so he whines a lot. I've been working on it with him, and he doesn't scream as much as he used to. Until he realizes where we are. Then he screams like a teenage girl who's celebrity crush just responded to their tweet.

"Dirty Jokes"

Looking back, I don't think I actually knew what constituted as a "dirty joke". I was pretty oblivious to most things.

Sunday, 14 July 2019

Gooooooob Morning

Akela wakes up early, checks on who's awake, and then goes back to bed.
I get woken up early by Akela, then I go back to bed, then wake up to go to work and feel very tired!

Wild Rabbit

Maybe not the funniest comic, but this incident often haunts my mind when I look back at my childhood memories of being at The Lake.
The rabbit PROBABLY wasn't quite that big, but I was around 4 years old at the time, so it sure seemed big.
The end result of this encounter was that I thought I could pet it, but as soon as I reached out to the rabbit, it hightailed it outta there!

Picpak's 20th Birthday

If you've been keeping up with my comics, you'll know about my friend Kim Belding, Creator of Picpak Dog comics
To celebrate myself and other cartoonists are creating Picpak fanart. So even if you don't follow Picpak (and at this point, why don't you?), I hope you can still appreciate today's comic!
Congrats Kim on 20 years of the Pink Pooch! Here's to many more!

When it comes to taste...

I mean, it's possible to have too much garlic, but I've yet to encounter that dish. (Short of pickled garlic by itself of course.)

That's what comics have taught me anyway...

It's never super powers :(

MerrMay

When you realize that something is only limited by your imagination.
The only mermaids I was exposed to when I was a kid were the Disney ones from The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan. Not too much going on there aside from Ursula, and I did not like how the mermaids in Peter Pan were jerks. So I stuck with Dragons and Unicorns of a different colour. As I got older, I learnt more about art, folklore, and the ocean. You can have a lot more fun when you have a little knowledge!

Thoughts of Warmer Weather

I have a bad habit of wearing out my clothes and then saying "well I don't have to deal with that for a while, so I won't worry about it..."
Mostly because I do NOT enjoy clothes shopping.

Happy Easter my friends and relations!
This is an accurate depiction of what spring is like here too. All the land needs is a bit of rain and sun, and POW everything's green again.

This is Greg the Puffin. He was invented by sister Erin and her kids, who decided he was the reason a  group of geese decided not to migrate this year.
