I keep warning her she'll trip...

Today is Lucy's birthday! Happy birthday to my imperious niece! I was going to do a New Years comic but eh, lot's of birthdays in the family. I don't really do New Years Resolutions, but 2015 was fairly acceptable year. I did a lot of drawing and feel like I've improved (even if it doesn't quite reflect in these comics). 2016 seems like it's going to be a challenge, but hey, onward and upward and all that rot!
Happy New Year!

Have a Super Christmas!

Tomorrow is my Mom's Birthday and Christmas Eve. Christmas blessings to you and your loved ones! I'll be taking a bit of a break over the next couple of days. So see you when I see you!

It worked on tv...

John was a little grouch. We were all watching him on the other side of the table, killing ourselves laughing. Well, muffled laughter because we didn't want to get in trouble. John wasn't allowed to leave the table for a while :P

Zoned

We then had a discussion about different types of squid.
As it's getting close to Christmas, I'm most likely going to take a bit of a break. I might post a comic on Monday, but after that I probably won't post anything until after New Year!

Mostly A Family of Girls does not mean Mostly A family of Frilly Things.

Considerate Cat

When our old (old as in moved) neighbours used to go on vacation, they would ask me to come over and feed their cat Molson while they were away. Molson was a very clever cat and spent most of her time, while they were gone, doing mysterious cat things, since this was before it became law to keep pet city cats from wandering. Even though she was very independent, at least one day, while the neighbours were gone, Molson would get lonely. Usually this just meant I would hang out with her at their house for a bit, but one night she actually came to OUR door and wouldn't leave until I came and got her. She's probably the reason I still like cats even though I am allergic to them.

Not Much of a Hugger

Don't get me wrong, it's not like I can't stand being hugged.
If I haven't seen a person I'm close to in a long time, they often get a hug. And the nephews and nieces are always crawling on me and cuddling, but they're kids. In my strange mind, physical contact is a very important and private thing, used in cases of comfort and encouragement. I don't share it with everybody all the time because it feels untrue and awkward. If that makes any sense.

This inevitably happens with any toy that is sturdy and has wheels.

Adventures in Cooking: Absolute Power

I refer to this as "Little Red Hen Syndrome". I read the recipe, I mixed the ingredients, I placed in oven, and now I will eat the cookies myself. Dangerous thinking, because I want to eat them all in one go.

'Tis But A Scratch!

Mom and dad were out of town for something, and the older sisters were in charge. John was still in elementary school. And yes it was only a bruise, and he healed up surprisingly quick, but dang was it ugly!

Travel Hopefully

This was the old Toyota Van we called "The Toaster". Looking back, we still have very little idea of how we actually managed to pack as many kids in as we did. Especially when we traveled three hours to The Lake with luggage, bedding, and food for a week.
A reminder, friends, to travel safely and carefully!

Down. Set... HUT!

Football at this age is basically setting up for a tackle. I forgot that I was supposed to let myself get tackled as part of the game and just scooped Daniel up and gave him a hug.

Disruptive

In grade 6, the class was watching this Christmas Cartoon that I thought we were too old for, but everyone else seemed to really enjoy. I liked the concept of the story, but it lost my interest pretty quick. I hadn't realized my friend Lisa was in the same boat, until this scene happened.
I'd like to point out too, that the birds chosen in the cartoon were: (I think) a Sand Piper, A Raven, a Goose or Vulture (I couldn't quite tell) and a Owl. NOT. AT. ALL. What we were expecting. We were laughing so hard that the teacher told us to be quiet. It took me a while to figure out that nobody else was laughing. Which kind of made it funnier.

Blending with the Crowd

Patricia was allergic to Olie, so Olie was trained to stay out of Patricia's room. This was the only time Olie tried to sneak in.
Wednesday was my sister Patricia's, and my brother-in-law, Will's Birthdays! Happy Birthday to Patricia and Will! Hope your day's were awesome!
(*note for anyone who doesn't know: Will is married to my sister Jeanne. Not Patricia.)

Puppy Dog Tales: D'aaaawww

It's always nice to sit in a sunbeam. It's even nicer if you have a puppy to lean on. Oliver was the only kid who got away with this, because he was the only kid to try it.
Today is Oliver's birthday! Happy Birthday to my awesome, nature lovin', nephew!

The end, I'm tired. Now I sleep.

Everybody Get's One

She may be cute, (frankly I believe all of my nephews and nieces are adorable) but if Lucy doesn't want you, she makes it very clear.

Seeing Double

Aiden and Tristan aren't identical, but it's hard for two years old's to know who is who. Even if they are brothers.

The Isle of Sodor

In case you don't know, the Isle of Sodor is where Thomas the Tank Engine lives. I remember when you could only see Thomas on Shining Time Station, as a story told by Mr. Conductor.

Nightmares

Thus concludes our Spooky themed comics. I hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween! I'm going to be spending my Halloween TRYING TO SLEEP!!!

Afraid of the Dark

Today is Erin's Birthday! Happy Birthday to my sister! Hope your day is simply marvelous with a Lovely Bow.
Erin's lamp had a touchy light switch that would occasionally flicker out as it got older. Eventually we learned that if you just touch the switch, it would be enough to turn the light back on. We probably had that lamp for way too long.

Halloween: Mummy?

This always struck me as odd. In the (only) OLD mummy horror movie I've seen, the Mummy was under control of a evil guy and was doing that guys bidding. But somewhere along the line, movies and tv shows switched to the Plagues of Egypt as the mummies scourge against the living. It's just weird to me.

Halloween: Creepy and True

True story. This was in a store by our cabin. I only went into the poorly lit doll room once. It was fairly normal until you noticed things like a plastic skull and a few doll heads here and there. And some of the dolls had seen better days. I don't remember seeing it after that one summer. Was it even really there? ooooOOOOOOooooooOOOO

Halloween: When a Vampire wants in

And then if you want your house back, just deal with it when the sun is up.
It's getting close to Halloween already, so I'm going to be throwing some spooky(ish) comics at you. And probably a couple of regular ones, we'll see.
(the song in the car is an Irish tune, in case you were wondering.)

My Mind

There are times you just gotta make yourself happy, ya know?

Friday, 16 October 2015

The Prince of the Forest

This was a few years ago up at our cabin. We have a lot of whitetail up there, but you usually just see the doe's and sometimes they'll have a fawn or two with them. But I remember when this impressive fellow decided to just chill in front of our cabin during a rain storm.
The deer at our lake don't have a lot of fear of people, you can get pretty close to one. So it is very good to remind yourself that they are wild animals and have very pointy appendages.

Introducing the twins: Aiden and Tristan!
Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians! Hopefully you don't find yourself gnawing on somebodies hand and have something more yummy!

Puppy Dog Tales: Exercise

And this would be why I stopped working out at home. Olie, I think, had certain ideas about what was healthy for humans. So when I started doing sit-ups and eventually start breathing heavily from it, she would get upset and pin me down because she thought something was wrong with me. So she would stop the cause of the problem.
It's very hard to do sit-ups when there is a Labrador-mix sitting on your chest.

This is also true for acquaintances.

Puppy Dog Tales: SHE KNEW

True Story! Oliver was born a few days after, premature and with a heart complication. We think that was why Olie wouldn't leave Erin alone, she somehow knew something was up with this kid. Of course, as you can tell by all the stories Oliver has appeared in, he was and is fine!

I hate this part...

Creating templates often mean I have to use math, which becomes especially difficult when your brain is all: "ooh! ooh! I know what we should draw! We should draw it now!"

The Big Questions

They say kids ask roughly 300 questions per day.  I think Oliver ends every statement with a question.
I just started saying "why do you think?"

Priorities people! It was actually Henry's birthday on Monday, so Happy Birthday again to him! (I already wished him a 'happy birthday' on his birthday.)

I'm Walking Here!

I've noticed that most people who walk into me, are people who are a whole head shorter then I am. They should be able to see me, I'm tall! It's like I have my own gravitational pull.

Adventures in Cooking: Cooking Correctly

I have a poor track record of making things the first time.
Lucy is doing the actions to "Rock-a-Bye Your Bear" by the Wiggles. "Hand's in the air, Rock-a-Bye your Bear, Bear's Now Asleep, Shh Shh Shh."

Puppy Dog Tales: Nerves

When skittish children meet oblivious dogs. I don't think Maggie ever got over her nervousness of Olie, but Isaac and Jack did eventually. They all liked her from a distance though, and preferably if she wasn't looking at them.

Epic Sad Face

The kid takes sad puppy-dog-eyes to a whole other level. And I am a hardened babysitter and Aunt! This only works once however... Usually.

Tactless, yet rude.

This weekend is both Isaac's and Finnian's Birthdays! They share the same day, as well as my cousin Regan (who has appeared in the comic once before). So Happy Birthday to All! And to all a good cake!

I'm one of those messy-organized people. My room is a mess but I know where everything is. When I do go on a cleaning spree, I have a hard time remembering where I have put everything.

It's my Birthday so...

Today is my birthday, so instead of today's comic you get to see this tea party I drew for a Facebook Challenge. Haha, SUCKERS!
Although it still needs a little work I'm pleased with how this turned out.
At this tea party we see the Foxy Whiskered Gentleman is re-enacting Aesop's fable about the fox and the crow, or in this case, Raven. Either way, the Lady Raven is losing the last of the cupcakes the Hare's had served. Luckily, Mrs. Hare is bringing out another tray of goodies. Mr. Hare tries to point that out to the Foxy whiskered Gentleman. Grandmother Hedgehog is not impressed by Foxy and judges him as she clutches her tea cup. Miss Mouse is unabashed. She just enjoys being invited to any soiree. Even it is, the weekly "tea and scandal."
Sorry if you already ventured over to my Fantasy Characters page, or on Facebook and saw this.
Comic will resume on Friday.
