Christmas Socks!

I've always liked getting socks for Christmas, and never fully got the reason so many kids in cartoons were angry at getting them. But then I live where there can be snow on the ground from October to April, so what do I know.
Enjoy the final comic strip of 2017!

Jacques & Kay: A Christmas Gathering

Yep, another Christmas drawing! Even Coco is getting festive! Turtle brought everything, and The Magpies are helping.

Jacques & Kay: What Santa Brought

I've always kinda liked those 'ugly' Christmas sweaters.

Baby it's cold outside

Although at the time of this comics creation, it's been in the balmy single digits and on and off in the positives even (weather-wise) here. Which is ridiculous for this time of year on the prairies! Normally it's at least -15 or -20 Celsius!

I'm sure these were the original lyrics...

If you happen to be offended by this, please note, we are making fun of the LYRICS to a song, not Jesus or our Faith. If you are NOT offended, Yay! Go Team Sense of Humour!

In which we change the words

This song actually makes me sad. That is, until we get to that particular line...

Getting Creative

When we were kids, we had to get creative on what we gave each other for Christmas. There was a lot of origami (not real origami, just a lot of folded paper that resembled something) and hand drawn pictures. When Jeanne taught me how to sew, I started making people travel pillows.
I remember sitting across the table from Thomas when he was making this 3D paper toy for me. He had a bunch of books set up so that I couldn't see what he was doing. The little Bomberman character (it's from a video game I never played but we used to make comics about) he made was composed entirely of construction paper and scotch tape. I think I still have the head somewhere. It was very impressive!

Jacques & Kay: Magpie Decorations

I read a lot of articles that stated that Magpies aren't actually shiny-mad as people thought, and in some instances were repulsed by the shiny objects. But in my brief research, I also found a lot of personal accounts of magpies and crows taking things they found interesting. When you get down to it, they are just naturally clever and inquisitive birds who will do  what they want.

The Nose Knows

Olie never opened the presents. Even on Christmas Day, you had to open the gift for her, and she would tear the paper into smaller bits after. Which was much harder to clean up!

Gaming the System

Prepare yourself, I'm-a gonna be doing a lot of Christmas/Winter themed comics this month!

My parents used to do desert (mostly cheesecake) parties with friends and family members around Christmas, but 'bed time' was still a thing. If memory serves, I managed to stay up about an extra half hour. My plan was fool proof!
